Movin' and Groovin'

There is so much that future self would like to remember about present self that it seems difficult to get it all down. Looks like today is going to be a bulleted list of things that have happened, things my body is doing and how our baby is changing.

  • This baby is a mover and groover! It moves so much that the action can be seen clearly and consistently from outside of my belly. This is my favorite part of growing a tiny human. It makes the pot belly and enormous bossoms feel completely worth the sacrifice already.
  • My husband is the most amazing man I know. I cannot believe how much a team effort this feels like already. He has also taken to calling me "sexy mama". While I pretend to hate it, he knows I secretly love it.
  • The 20 week (at 22 week) ultrasound was scientifically, medically and emotionally astounding. I wish we could one every week :-). Auntie Crystal even came with us to this special appointment. We were grateful to have her there and grateful to have a Gram to play with the girls.
Tiny Baby Smidgey, 22 Weeks
  • Jim bought his first round of diapers. He found an excellent deal at Target and, though it was his idea to pick some up at 22 cents a diaper, his face says it all.
Calculating how much diapers will cost over a child's lifetime.
  • I love being pregnant (24 week Jen says to 8 week pregnant Jen because short term memory is a crazy and reckless machine). I am eternally grateful for this. My body is doing weird things, but I never imaged growing a pot belly would be so satisfying. Jim is worried I will hate not being pregnant :-). We have still be rock climbing all over, had a wonderful Tiacation and I am afforded the luxury of quality health, mind and body care.
22 Weeks and loving life!
  • No real food cravings up to this point. Since we have passed 11 weeks I am able to eat pretty much all of my favorite foods...and then some.
  • Letting myself off the hook without being too easy on myself has been a juggle. Finding the right balance between rest and activity is changing weekly. I am absolutely thrilled that we were still out rock climbing last weekend. Jim is preparing to carry more of the load in his pack, but I am still carrying my fair share, which I am pretty dern proud of. We have two more rock climbing weekend get-a-ways coming up in September. It is almost like we planned this around rock climbing season :-). By the time mid-October hits and I anticipate being much more limited, the season is all but over in upstate New York.

  • I love nesting. I love nesting baby or no baby, but there is a heightened sense of accomplishment that comes from unloading unloading a closet, moving two items to different locations in the same closet and then reloading the same closet with the same items. VoilĂ ! I couldn't be proud of myself then I am at that moment! Of course, Jim loves and appreciates the "tour" of the same stuff in the same closet and I remind him of how I am doing this for him so that we are so organized he will never feel lost when he is alone with baby. He is one lucky man.
  • Sometimes when I sneeze unexpected things happen. Jim "read about it in his baby book" and reports that I should expect this from now until the end of time.
  • My boobs starting "leaking" at 5 months pregnant. Hopefully this is a good sign. Nothing like milk leaking from your breasts to make a first pregnancy real!
